Academic Standing
Academic standing is based upon the students’ cumulative grade point average (CGPA). The academic standing is recorded on the transcript for the fall and spring semesters. Summer session is not recorded, but the summer session grade point average (GPA) is used in calculating academic standing
The academic standing designations are: good standing, probation, suspension and second suspension.
Good Standing: A student is in good academic standing when his/her
cumulative grade point average (GPA) is 2.0 or above.
Probation: A student is placed on probation if his or her CGPA falls below
a 2.0. (Summer session GPA is not computed in the probation and suspension status.) The maximum course load for students on Academic Probation is six credits. Probationary students may take nine credits with the recommendation of their advisor and the approval of the Dean of Instruction. Students on academic probation may enroll in only one course for the summer session.
Suspension: A student is placed on suspension if while on probation
he or she fails to maintain a CGPA of at least 2.0 (Summer session GPA is not computed in the probation and suspension status.) This is equivalent to two consecutive probationary semesters.
A student may return after the end of the suspension period and will be
classified as a returning student. During this return semester the student must earn a semester GPA of at least 2.0.
The semester following a suspension the student may enroll for a
maximum of six (6) credits. Students may take nine (9) credits with the recommendation of their advisor and the approval of the Dean of Instruction. Students on suspension may enroll in only one course for the summer session.
Second Suspension: A student is placed on second suspension if he/she
fails to earn at least a 2.0 semester GPA during the semester following the first probation.

The duration of the second suspension is for two consecutive semesters.
(Summer session is not included.) A student may return after the end of the suspension period, and will be classified as a returning student. During this semester the student must earn a semester GPA of at least 2.0.

The semester following a second suspension, the student may enroll for a
maximum of six credits. Students may take nine credits with the recommendation of their academic advisor and the approval of the Dean of Instruction. Students on second suspension may enroll in only one course for the summer session
