Academic Programs at ASCC : Samoan Language and Culture
Department of Samoan Language and Culture The Department of Samoan Language and Culture is committed to the promotion of Samoan language skills and cultural awareness. Upon graduation from ASCC, students will be knowledgeable and skillful enough in the use of the Samoan language and culture that they will be able to lead a meaningful and successful life in any Samoan community in American Samoa or abroad.

The Department offers Certificate of Proficiency and an Associate of Arts degree in Samoan Studies. Both programs focus on analyzing, maintaining, enhancing and disseminating knowledge of Samoan values through the proper use of the language as well as an appreciation of the culture. The programs prepare students for employment at the entry level as cub reporters, junior translators/interpreters or teachers of the Samoan language at the elementary and/or secondary level.
